Schedule Posted

The schedule has been available for a little while now, but we’re finally ready to announce it officially. All sessions are in, all breaks figured out, and now we’re just looking forward to getting started on Saturday morning!

Sold out!

All the tickets are gone. WordCamp Ventura County 2014 is sold out.

Thank you everyone, you rock!

What now? You didn’t manage to get a ticket?
Don’t panic, we’ll have a free live stream available at the day of the conference, and of course all session videos will be uploaded to WordPress.tv.

Introducing Zack Tollman

zack-tollmanWe are proud to introduce you to our keynote speaker, Zack Tollman! Zack is a very active member of the WordPress community, speaking at WordCamps and Meetups, contributing to Core in many ways, and blogging about WordPress development. He will take an in-depth look at performance metrics and how we can use them to improve performance in WordPress Core and our individual sites.

He currently resides in Portland, OR, where he is pushing the boundaries of WordPress development and theming. He agreed to come to Ventura, despite a busy travel schedule, and WordCamp San Francisco happening only two weeks prior to ours.

Zack, we are very excited to have you!

Introducing Natalie MacLees

natalie-macleesNatalie is a driving force for everything WordPress and Web Development related in the Los Angeles area. She is a frequent speaker at WordCamps and Meetups—incuding the Ventura Meetup—and runs one of the biggest WordPress Meetups, with the Southern California WordPress Meetup Group, and co-organized WordCamp Los Angeles in the past two years.

She is the founder and principal of Purple Pen Design, where she not only designs and develops websites for clients, but also decided to write a book about jQuery for designers. If you have not met her in person yet, do not pass up this opportunity!

Natalie, we are very excited to have you!

Introducing Alex Vasquez

alex-vasquezAlex Vasquez co-organized WordCamp Los Angeles in the past two years and is also a frequent WordCamp Speaker. He runs his own Web Development shop in Los Angeles and is an active member in the Pasadena WordPress Meetup Group.

A native of Salem, OR, he found his place here in the Southland, promoting all things WordPress, and gaining the reputation for giving light hearted yet educational presentations. It was a no-brainer for us to invite him to speak, and we’re sure you will enjoy his session!

Alex, we are very excited to have you!

Introducing Rachel Baker

rachel-backerRachel Baker is a Senior Strategic Engineer with 10up, a WordPress agency and WordPress.com VIP Partner. She is one of the driving forces behind the WordPress REST API project, and as such is shaping the future of WordPress. She frequently speaks at WordCamps about development-oriented topics, and we’re glad that we will be one of these occasions.

We asked her if she was interested in speaking back in March, and she immediately said yes! This is not only remarkable because she is the speaker with the longest way to travel, coming to us from Chicago, IL, but mostly because she had no idea what she would get herself into.

Rachel, we are very excited to have you!

Introducing Mike Adams

mdawaffeMike Adams has been with Automattic for over 8 years, starting just a year after it was founded. There, he currently works on the Simperium team, focussing on data synchronization and improving all things security related. He is a WordPress Core committer and member of the Security Team, regularly making WordPress sites more secure.

The last time Mike spoke at a WordPress event was at WordCamp San Francisco last year. It fills us with pride that the next time will be here in Ventura! Check out the Sessions page for an updated session description, but you can count on learning about WordPress Security at his session.

Mike, we are very excited to have you!

Introducing Mika Epstein

Mika EpsteinMika Epstein was among the first speakers we reached out to, and was so excited about contributing to WordCamp Ventura County that she was willing to move a family obligation to be able to speak at our event!

If you have not met her, she alone would be a reason to come. Mika Epstein is the Mika Epstein of WordPress support. If you ever posted a question at the WordPress support forums, chances are that she has seen it, if not answered it herself. She is also part of the Plugin Review team, bringing sanity to the WordPress Plugin Repository.

Like Mike Schroder, she works at DreamHost, where she fills the role of WordPress Support Specialist and Manager, helping her co-workers understand the true magnificence of the software, and answers any kind of WordPress-related question.

Mika, we are very excited to have you!
